Are you looking for a fun summer job where you can make a difference? Co-Op Summer Enrichment is an award winning summer camp for low income children that delivers STEM learning and camp fun.


What you'll be doing


You’re joining a summer camp team where roles and tasks are collaborative and shared. As an Assistant Counselor you’ll be responsible for providing support and assistance to a group of 12-15 diverse campers ensuring safety, providing guidance, community building and most importantly, fun.


RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:


The duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist, support and collaborate with the Head Counselor for a dedicated group of children for a five-week program serving elementary children in rising grades 1 to 5
  • Follow directions and guidance of Head Counselor helping to promote and provide a unified message to campers
  • Assist campers while participating in STEM learning blocks led by Educators and recreation activities led by Coaches such as sports and swimming
  • Assist with activities and specialists during program blocks in a variety of areas such as crafts, nature, science, sports and recreation
  • Assist with group day to day operations such as escorting campers to the bathroom, guiding behavior in the lunchroom, ensuring everyone is fed, eating with your group, and promote positive free and safe play during recess
  • Assist and alert Head Counselor about any potential camper behavioral issues and conflicts, helping to diffuse the situation and being proactive towards avoiding similar situations in the future
  • Assist educators with packing materials at the close of day and week
  • Attend all orientation week training sessions
  • Enforce the highest level of safety at all times, adhering to camp policies and procedures

REQUIRED PROGRAM DATES & TIMES:


Camp-season:

June 29, 2026 to August 7, 2026 (No camp Friday, July 3rd)

8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Regular camp days

8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Regular camp days with weekly staff meeting


*all program start and end times/dates subject to change until program design is complete by June 1st

Requirements

  • Assistant Counselors must be at least 16 years old by the start of the program
  • Have working papers (obtained from your high school)
  • Availability to work the entire camp season and attend all required orientations and trainings
  • High swimming competency


Besides that you might:

  • Have previous experience working with youth in a group recreational setting such as camp or after school programs
  • Have a desire to make a difference in the lives of kids
  • Are Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Want to know what Color Wars is and are already strategizing to win the annual trophy

  • Posses a valid social security card
  • Take a background check with fingerprint approval if you are 18 or older (we will provide instructions as part of the onboarding process)
  • Provide two references professional or personal (non-family)
