Job Summary:
Warner Bros. Discovery, home of CNN, is seeking a Staff Data Analyst to enhance audience understanding and growth across various platforms. This role involves leading audience analytics efforts, collaborating with editorial and product teams, and serving as a technical mentor for the analyst team.
Responsibilities:
• Lead ongoing analysis to identify opportunities for audience growth, including through search, generative AI platforms, social platforms, newsletters, and more.
• Partner with editorial, product, and marketing teams to translate audience analytics and insights into strategic recommendations.
• Regularly assess the impact of audience development initiatives.
• Serve as technical mentor and QA lead for the analyst team on web/app traffic trends, reviewing analytical methodologies, SQL queries, and dashboards to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret web and app traffic patterns, identify data quality issues, and collaborate with technical partners to clarify and resolve discrepancies.
• Develop and maintain a regular practice of landscape and competitive analytics that helps inform deliverables like benchmarking and forecasting to inform strategic planning and growth targets.
• Develop frameworks and reporting tools to monitor audience growth, segmentation, and discovery across platforms.
• Collaborate with the Senior Director to shape analytics roadmaps and OKRs aligned with business priorities.
• Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in clear, compelling formats connected to the business impact.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 5+ years in digital analytics, audience insights, or audience development strategy.
• Strong command of SQL, experience with large datasets and ability to collaborate with data engineers to design and validate data pipelines.
• Experience with SEO tools (e.g., Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs) and social analytics aggregation or owned platforms.
• Proven ability to evaluate experimental results.
• Proven ability to identify and estimate the potential drivers of audience growth.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI).
• Proficiency in digital analytics tools (e.g., Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Chartbeat, Parse.ly).
• Proven ability to develop and lead QA processes.
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management experience.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Preferred:
• Experience with dbt is a plus but not required.
