Job description

Position: CNC Set-Up Machinist
Location: Plano, TX Schedule: Full-time
Overview: The CNC Set-Up Machinist is responsible for setting up CNC machines, selecting tooling, adjusting programs, and ensuring first-article quality before releasing jobs to production.
Key Responsibilities
  • Set up CNC mills/lathes including tooling, fixturing, and program loading
  • Perform first-article inspections and verify dimensional accuracy
  • Adjust offsets, feeds, speeds, and tool paths as needed
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize performance
  • Train CNC Operators on proper machine operation
  • Maintain documentation for setups and process improvements

Qualifications
  • 3+ years CNC machining/set-up experience
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
  • Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and CMM reports
  • Experience with common CNC controls (Haas, Fanuc, Mazak)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work independently

Preferred
  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing
  • Ability to edit G-code for minor program adjustments
