Job description

The Machine Shop Supervisor - Valves will oversee machining and welding operations within Flowserve's Valve Quick Response Center in Baton Rouge. This position plays a key role in supporting fast-turnaround valve repair, valve machining, and rotating equipment refurbishment, ensuring production flows safely, efficiently, and with high quality standards.
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise daily machining activities (manual lathes, mills, and CNC) and welding operations supporting industrial valve repair and remanufacturing
• Coordinate machining of valve components including valve bodies, stems, bonnets, flanges, seats, bushings, and related rotating equipment
• Ensure valve repair work meets dimensional, tolerance, and quality requirements
• Plan and schedule workflow for high-mix, quick-turn valve service jobs
• Monitor and manage KPIs: utilization, efficiency, productivity, scrap, and rework
• Maintain statistical process control for valve machining and repair processes
• Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
• Develop shop procedures, work instructions, and safety protocols
• Train and onboard machinists, welders, and new hires
• Promote a safe, clean, and organized machine shop environment
Requirements:
• Supervisory experience in a machine shop environment
• Experience with manual machining and/or CNC machining (lathes and mills)
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of Lean tools and continuous improvement methods
Preferred:
• BS/BA degree in Engineering (or currently pursuing)
• Knowledge of TIG and MIG welding
• Familiarity with welding standards (AWS, ASME)
• Experience in ISO-9001 manufacturing or repair environments
