Launched in 1989, it is owned by NBCUniversal and is widely recognized for its real-time market data, interviews with business leaders, and expert commentary. CNBC is popular among investors, financial professionals, and anyone interested in economic news, offering both domestic and international coverage. The channel also produces original documentaries, business reality shows, and digital content through its website and mobile apps.

Familiarity with newsroom software, content management systems, and data visualization tools like Bloomberg Terminal is often required. Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and the ability to work under tight deadlines are crucial soft skills for success. These skills ensure accurate, timely, and engaging reporting that maintains CNBC’s reputation and informs its audience effectively.

Job description

Senior Specialist, Java/AI Engineer

At BNY, our culture allows us to run our company better and enables employees' growth and success. As a leading global financial services company at the heart of the global financial system, we influence nearly 20% of the world's investible assets. Every day, our teams harness cutting-edge AI and breakthrough technologies to collaborate with clients, driving transformative solutions that redefine industries and uplift communities worldwide.

Recognized as a top destination for innovators and champions of inclusion, BNY is where bold ideas meet advanced technology and exceptional talent. Together, we power the future of finance - and this is what #LifeAtBNY is all about. Join us and be part of something extraordinary.

We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Specialist Java/AI Engineer to join our Enterprise Data & Solutions Engineering team. This role is located in Lake Mary, Florida, FL

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Core Java and Spring Boot: REST controllers, dependency injection, configuration management, data access (JPA/JDBC), concurrency basics, and exception handling.
  • Implement well-architected Java/Spring Boot microservices and APIs: build features, fix defects, and deliver production-ready code with strong testing.
  • Apply AI-assisted coding and AI coding practices to speed up development (prompting, code suggestions, test generation), while ensuring code quality, security, and maintainability.
  • Integrate AI features in applications (e.g., inference endpoints, prompt orchestration, RAG flows, embeddings) with guardrails, input/output validation, and auditability.
  • Contribute to data access design and performance (RDBMS basics): write efficient queries, tune connection pools, and implement transactional integrity and error handling.
  • Collaborate closely with tech leads and product partners to refine requirements, acceptance criteria, and sprint goals; maintain clean documentation (API contracts, ADRs, readmes).
  • Support CI/CD pipeline tasks (builds, tests, artifacts, environment configs) and contribute to automated quality gates and release safety.
  • Data/RDBMS fundamentals: SQL, schema/index basics, transactions/locking, query optimization, and connection pool tuning (HikariCP or similar).
  • Middleware/integration: REST API design, JSON/Proto handling, authentication/authorization basics (OAuth2/OIDC), and resilience patterns (retry, circuit breaker).

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-6 years of hands-on experience building production software with Java/Spring/Spring Boot.
  • Demonstrated use of AI-assisted coding tools and integration of AI features with responsible-use practices.
  • Working knowledge of RDBMS (Oracle or equivalent) and secure, performant data access in services.
  • Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability.
  • Prompt engineering for code/tests with verification steps; avoid blind acceptance of generated code.
  • Implement guardrails for AI-enabled features (policy checks, content filters, PII safety) and robust telemetry of prompts/responses.
  • Design deterministic wrappers around model calls (timeouts, retries, backoff, caching) and capture traceability for audit/compliance.
  • Collaborate on evaluation harnesses for AI features (quality metrics, latency budgets, failure modes).
