What is the difference between Cna Training Classes vs Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Training?

CredentialsCertificate of completion for CNACertificate or diploma after CMA program, includes clinical hours
Work EnvironmentLong-term care facilities, hospitals, nursing homesClinics, outpatient facilities, hospitals
Employer & IndustryHealthcare, elder care, nursing homes

Both roles work in healthcare settings but differ in scope, responsibilities, and required training duration.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in CNA training classes, and why are they important?

To succeed in CNA training classes, you need a high school diploma or GED, basic reading and math skills, and a genuine interest in healthcare. Familiarity with medical terminology, infection control procedures, and patient care documentation systems is beneficial. Compassion, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential soft skills for aspiring CNAs. These abilities ensure you can learn and perform critical caregiving tasks safely and effectively, laying the foundation for a successful healthcare career.

What are CNA training classes?

CNA training classes are educational programs designed to prepare individuals to become Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). These classes typically cover essential topics such as basic nursing skills, patient care, infection control, and safety procedures. The training usually includes both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience in a healthcare setting. After completing the program, students are eligible to take a state certification exam to become licensed CNAs and begin working in various healthcare environments like hospitals, nursing homes, or home health care.

What can I expect from the structure and pace of CNA training classes, and how can I best prepare for success?

CNA training classes typically combine classroom instruction with hands-on clinical experience, often held in a healthcare facility. The pace can be fast, as programs are designed to cover essential topics like patient care, infection control, and basic nursing skills within a few weeks. To succeed, be prepared for both theoretical learning and physical tasks, and make the most of opportunities to practice skills under the guidance of experienced instructors. Engaging actively in class, asking questions, and forming study groups with peers can greatly enhance your learning experience.

Wellspring Skilled Nursing & Rehab Fairview | Full-time | Hourly | $14.00 - $17.00

Applications accepted through August 13, 2026

Start Your Healthcare Career While Making a Difference

Have you ever thought about a career in healthcare, but weren't sure where to begin?

Maybe you've always been the person who checks in on others. The one who notices when someone needs help. The one who finds purpose in making someone's day a little easier, a little brighter, or a little less lonely. The truth is, many great caregivers didn't start with certifications or clinical experience. They started with compassion.

Wellspring Skilled Nursing & Rehab in Fairview is hiring a Resident Assistant to participate in our paid CNA Training Program. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), building caregiving experience and starting a long-term career in healthcare.

As a Resident Assistant, you'll support older adults in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation setting while completing a two-week CNA training course paid for by Wellspring. After successfully completing the class and passing the Michigan CNA licensing exam, you'll transition into a full-time CNA position with increased pay and ongoing career growth opportunities.

Why This Work Matters

Healthcare is about more than medical care. It's about helping people feel valued, respected, and connected. Every day, you'll play a role in creating a positive experience for residents by offering companionship, support, encouragement, and assistance with daily needs. The relationships you build can make a lasting difference in someone's quality of life.
