Job description

Shift’s Available: Days

Hours: 12-hour shifts

Employment Type: Per Diem (PD / PRN) 

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center – Gadsden, AL 

We are seeking a Medical-Surgical Telemetry CNA, also referred to as a Med-Surg Tele CNA in our Medical Surgical and Telemetry Departments.  The Med-Surg/Tele CNA assist nurses by providing basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient safety for adults recovering from surgeries or illnesses while on heart monitors. They play a critical role in observing patients, reporting changes, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment to promote recovery. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed. 

** We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Adult Psych Acute team. Under RN supervision, you will assist patients with daily living activities, provide basic nursing care, and help maintain a safe environment. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): 

  • Basic patient care: help patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating 
  • Vital signs monitoring: take and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation 
  • Mobility assistance: help patients get in and out of bed, walk, or use assistive devices. 
  • EKG lead maintenance: ensure telemetry monitors (heart monitors) are properly connected and functioning — though Certified Nursing Assistant’s (CNA’s) don't usually interpret heart rhythms, they might recognize when alarms go off and immediately alert registered nurses 
  • Observation: monitor patients for any physical changes (shortness of breath, chest pain, altered mental status) and quickly notifying the nursing staff 

Education and Work Experience

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire
  • Current BLS upon hire and maintain current 

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Possess knowledge of Medical Terminology 

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus: 

  • Minimum six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office
