Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring PICU experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details
  • Float pool position covering PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, pediatric PACU, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units
  • Teaching hospital setting
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
  • Scheduled for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Must float within scope of practice per facility float policy
  • Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
  • Active RN license (VA or Compact) required, pending license accepted
  • Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS
  • Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
  • Minimum 2 years PICU experience required
  • Must be comfortable with NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED patient care
  • Previous travel experience required, or comparable NICU/PICU float pool experience considered
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide critical care nursing across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team
  • Specialty-specific modules completed during orientation, up to 16 non-billable hours
  • Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract; no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
  • No RTO can be approved during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
  • Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to start date confirmation
  • Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers require 1-year separation and leadership approval to return
  • External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they have relevant NICU/PICU float pool experience
  • No radius or mileage restriction applies to this position
