What are CNA agencies?

CNA agencies are organizations that recruit, hire, and place Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) into healthcare facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living centers. These agencies help healthcare providers fill temporary or permanent staffing needs and offer CNAs flexible work opportunities. CNA agencies handle the hiring process, manage scheduling, and often provide additional training or support for their staff. Working with an agency can be a good option for CNAs seeking varied work environments or more control over their schedules.

What challenges do CNAs face when working through staffing agencies, and how can they prepare?

CNAs working with agencies often face varying work environments and patient populations, as assignments may change frequently. This requires adaptability and strong communication skills to quickly understand new protocols and team dynamics at each facility. To prepare, CNAs should stay organized, maintain up-to-date certifications, and be proactive in asking questions during each new placement to ensure smooth transitions. Building a network with agency coordinators can also help secure preferred shifts and assignments.
