What can a CNA II do?

A CNA II is a certified nursing assistant with advanced training and skills, allowing them to perform additional responsibilities such as taking vital signs, assisting with patient mobility, and providing basic care under supervision. They often work in healthcare settings like hospitals and long-term care facilities and may be responsible for supervising entry-level CNAs. Certification requirements typically include additional coursework and experience beyond the basic CNA credential.

What are CNA 2s?

CNA 2s, or Certified Nursing Assistants Level 2, are healthcare professionals who have completed additional training beyond the basic CNA certification. This advanced training allows them to perform more complex patient care tasks, such as assisting with medical procedures, monitoring vital signs, and providing support in acute care settings. CNA 2s often work in hospitals, clinics, or rehabilitation centers under the supervision of registered nurses. Their expanded skill set makes them valuable members of the healthcare team, helping ensure patients receive high-quality care.

What are some common challenges CNA 2s face when transitioning to working in a hospital setting?

CNA 2s often find the transition to hospital environments challenging due to the increased pace, more complex patient care needs, and frequent collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Unlike long-term care facilities, hospitals may require CNAs to quickly adapt to new protocols, manage a wider variety of medical equipment, and provide support in acute or emergency situations. Effective communication and flexibility are crucial for managing changing priorities, and many CNAs find that ongoing training and mentorship provided by hospitals help ease this transition.

What other jobs can I do with a CNA?

A CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) can often transition into roles such as medical assistant, patient care technician, or home health aide, which require similar skills in patient care and basic medical procedures. Additional certifications or training may be needed for some positions, and experience as a CNA provides a strong foundation for various healthcare support roles in hospitals, clinics, or home care settings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CNA 2, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CNA 2, you need advanced patient care skills, a CNA 1 certification, and completion of a CNA 2 training program. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), vital sign monitoring equipment, and basic medical procedures is typically required. Compassion, strong communication, and the ability to work well under supervision are important soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure safe, effective care for patients and support the broader healthcare team in demanding clinical environments.

How much does CNA 2 make?

CNA 2 positions typically earn an average hourly wage of around $14 to $18 in North Carolina, depending on experience, location, and healthcare facility. Annual salaries generally range from approximately $29,000 to $37,000 for full-time roles. Certification and additional skills can influence earning potential.

How much does a CNA 2 make an hour?

A CNA 2 typically earns between $15 and $20 per hour, depending on experience, location, and healthcare facility. Advanced certifications and additional skills can lead to higher wages in this role.
