TalentBurst, Inc is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Concord North, North Carolina.

Shift Information: 1900-0700

Clinical Interviewing: Yes

On Call, Call Back Requirements: No call

Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend

Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays

Floating Requirements: Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises

  • Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit

Department Information:

  • Avg Daily Census โ€“ 21 patients

Minimum Years of Experience required: 18 months Med/Tele experience
Will you accept a first-time traveler: Not preferred, will consider
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Chest Pain, Rule out Stroke, Syncope, Dizziness, Respiratory Illness, a Variety of Diagnoses
Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:

  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)

Ratios:

  • RN: 1:4-5
  • CNA: Days 1:7; Nights 1:10

Skills required:

  • General Med/Tele skillset: Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps
  • Medication gtt management to include: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF

Support within the Department:

  • Supervisor
  • Charge RN โ€“ free floating
  • RT, 24/7 โ€“ not dedicated to this unit specifically
  • Hospitalist, 24/7 - not dedicated to this unit specifically
  • Phlebotomy: Combined effort between RNs, IV team
  • IV/VAT Team

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: EPIC
  • IV Pumps: Alaris
  • Med Dispensing: Omnicell

Floating:

  • Travel nurses will be first to float to other nursing units and provide flexible staffing support based on patient care needs and staffing demands. They will demonstrate adaptability and clinical flexibility when floating to other units. Will take patients within scope of practice on any unit (e.g. MedSurg assignment in ICU, MedSurg holds in ED, etc.)
  • Will be required to float per region needs โ€“ will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice โ€“ DECLINE if not agreeable
  • Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
  • If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)

Orientation (facility and unit):

  • NEO
  • 2 days departmental

Scheduling:

  • Weekend rotation: every other
  • Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
  • RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays โ€“ must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
  • Shift times: 0650-1910; 1850-0710
  • Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
