Description
As a Cloud Engineer at Verily you will help us develop our cloud platform capabilities and tools to deliver scalable, reliable, secure, and performant production systems. You will work with software engineers, hardware engineers, data scientists & security to help them learn, adapt, and adopt our core cloud management tools and best practices. You will also help develop documentation and training material and evangelize these technologies and capabilities to the broader development organization. As an expert in Cloud technologies, you will also help influence the infrastructure decisions within the broader engineering organization.
Responsibilities
  • Design and Implement scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure using automation tools.
  • Breakdown complex systems designs and identify cloud infrastructure requirements, both functional and nonfunctional.
  • Adhere to cloud architecture standards, policies, and guidelines to maintain consistency and reliability across teams and ensure compliance with data privacy and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, FedRAMP).
  • Automate cloud infrastructure for Verily's suite of products on GCP as well as other cloud providers via Infrastructure as Code. Automate cloud operations strategy to ensure scalability, performance, security, and disaster recovery.
  • Reduce toil of repetitive cloud operations by automating into self-service workflows.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with 5+ years of experience in public cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or AWS, with the ability to leverage these platforms effectively for large-scale operations.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing cloud through Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, etc. and through GitOps using GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Jenkins, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience with programming & scripting languages like Go, Python, Shell, etc; and experience in implementing scalable, reliable and secure cloud network solutions for a variety of workloads.
  • 2+ years of experience in establishing observability systems to monitor production systems and leading incident management processes to attain high system availability (99.9% uptime or higher).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands on experience in Google Cloud Platform
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator with deep understanding of Kubernetes internals.
  • Familiarity with IaC actuation tools like Atlantis, Terraform Cloud, etc.
  • Experience in managing complex distributed systems in a public cloud environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Write technical & design documentation.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000 - 226,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
