What Is a Cloud Administrator?

A cloud administrator is a technology professional who handles cloud computing services for their organization. As a cloud administrator, your job duties are to transition locally hosted infrastructure to the cloud, configure cloud environments to meet your company’s needs, and architect systems for data management. You may also have maintenance duties, such as responding to trouble tickets and alerts, developing patches or fixes for any issues that arise, and implementing cloud-native and serverless development strategies for new applications. How to Become a Cloud Administrator

To pursue a career as a cloud administrator, you must demonstrate qualifications in Linux and Windows server operating systems, web server technologies like Websphere, Weblogic, and IIS, relational database systems like SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle, and cloud computing technologies. You also need at least three years of experience using Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Azure. Many employers prefer candidates with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar field in addition to your proven skills and experience with cloud systems and web development.
