Closeout Manager information

What is a closeout manager?

Closeout Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the final stages of a project, ensuring that all contractual, financial, and administrative tasks are completed before the project is officially closed. They coordinate with various stakeholders to verify that all deliverables meet requirements, resolve outstanding issues, and compile necessary documentation. Their role is critical in ensuring smooth project handover and compliance with regulatory or client expectations.

What are some common challenges faced by closeout managers during the project turnover phase?

Closeout Managers often face challenges such as ensuring that all project documentation is complete and accurate, coordinating final inspections, and facilitating the handover of deliverables to clients or stakeholders. Managing tight deadlines while ensuring compliance with contractual requirements can also be demanding. Additionally, Closeout Managers must collaborate closely with various teams, including construction, engineering, and quality assurance, to resolve outstanding issues and ensure a smooth project transition.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a closeout manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Closeout Manager, you need strong project management skills, attention to detail, and experience in construction or engineering, often supported by a bachelor's degree in a related field. Familiarity with project management software (such as Procore or MS Project), document control systems, and knowledge of regulatory requirements are typically required. Effective communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills help you coordinate stakeholders and handle complex closeout processes. These abilities ensure timely project completion, compliance, and client satisfaction during critical project closure phases.

Our client is an established and growing renewable energy contractor specializing in commercial solar projects throughout Minnesota. They are seeking an accomplished Commercial Solar Project Manager to take ownership of projects from internal handoff through successful completion.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role combining project leadership, construction coordination, financial oversight, customer communication, and field involvement. • Visit project sites to conduct inspections, monitor progress, verify quality, and resolve field-related issues
  • Proactively address project risks, delays, cost concerns, and construction challenges
  • Oversee contracts, procurement, change orders, billing milestones, and closeout requirements
  • Support the transition of completed projects into ongoing service and maintenance
  • Provide clear project updates to leadership and help improve internal processes

What You Bring

  • At least five years of project management experience in commercial solar, renewable energy, electrical construction, roofing, or commercial construction
  • A proven ability to manage complex construction projects from planning through completion
  • Strong knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, procurement, subcontractor coordination, and project closeout
  • Experience working directly with commercial customers and field teams
  • Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities

  • An engineering education or professional engineering background

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Work closely with company leadership and have your ideas heard
  • Join a fun, collaborative team that works hard, supports one another, and enjoys what they do

  • Combine strategic project management with hands-on field involvement
  • Help shape processes and make a visible impact on the business

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary of $120,000–$140,000, depending on experience
  • Comprehensive health benefits
  • Health savings plan
  • Retirement savings program with company contribution
