Volunteer Program CoordinatorSenior Volunteer Programs - Foster Grandparent Program (FGP)/Senior Companion Program (SCP)

Pay rate: $20 - $23/hour

The Senior Volunteer Program's Volunteer Program Coordinator provides professional volunteer management for the Senior Volunteer Programs including recruitment, screening, interviewing, placements, supervision and recognition of older volunteers age 55+ volunteering in organizations, schools and private homes in York, Cumberland and York Counties.This position contributes to the accomplishment of The Opportunity Alliance's mission through the provision of direct service to Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions. This position will staff a committee of the Senior Volunteer Advisory Council. Work is performed, reviewed, and evaluated under the supervision of the Senior Volunteer Program Director.

Schedule: Full-Time, 32 hours/week.

Location: South Portland, primarily on-site with some potential

Position will be primarily on site, with some local travel to program sites.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or experience and appreciation of volunteerism, older adults 55+ and people living in poverty.
  • Knowledge of resources for adults living in poverty.
  • 2+ years experience in volunteer administration preferred; supervision of adults 55+ and people living in poverty preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check & sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • Must be able to exert moderate physical effort with occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, typing and frequently lift material weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings and for the occasional need to meet with clients offsite and within the program service area. This may include transportation of clients or driving to agency location to complete work. A good driving record is required.
  • Reliable vehicle to transport volunteers throughout service area.
