Job description

One to One Health is seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our clinic team located at The ROW in Reno!

At One to One Health, we prioritize personalized, high-quality care that supports the well-being of the communities we serve. This role is integral to delivering efficient clinical operations and a positive patient experience, working alongside providers to ensure coordinated, compassionate care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to maintaining clinical excellence in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include:
• Verifies patient information by interviewing patients; recording medical history; confirming the purpose of the visit.
• Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary
• Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
• Deliver overall support for providers and clinic operations.
• Instructs patients on the collection of any necessary samples and tests
• Give injections, and administer prescribed medications as directed by the provider and according to nursing standards.
• Observe patients, chart and report changes in patient's conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and take any necessary action
• Ensure that patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely matter and forward charts as appropriate in the electronic medical record.
• Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments.
• Arrange referrals to a specialist and obtain pre-authorizations when directed by the provider.
• Prepare exam and treatment rooms for patient intake.
• Assist with lab testing and phlebotomy.
• Assist providers in preparing for minor procedures and physicals.
• Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, and       fostering a sense of teamwork.
• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling     for repairs, and reporting to the Practice Coordinator.
• Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies/procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements.
• Exhibits professionalism and teamwork
• Possess the ability to quickly adapt to different situations while being efficient and well organized.
• Demonstrate knowledge and ability to recognize emergent situations and act promptly and appropriately based on the patient's need and within the scope of        practice under the direction of the charge nurse and/or provider.

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to provide patients with timely responses, clear and professional communication, and a steadfast willingness to find solutions to all problems.
  • Strong communication skills, including active listening and empathy, to effectively address patient needs and concerns and coordinate care.
  • Proficient in basic technology (Microsoft products, etc).
  • Ability or willingness to learn patient engagement software / customer service systems that enable omnichannel (text, phone, video, email) communication with patients and teammates.
  • Ability or willingness to learn basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with excellent organizational skills.
  • Must possess a strong sense of professionalism
  • Must thrive in a team dynamic
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Ability to follow written or verbal step-by-step instructions
  • Ability to concentrate, think, and learn
  • Ability to hear, see, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, lift, push, and pull.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program or actively working towards completion
  • Administrative experience, preferably in a medical office
