DeRisi Lab - Junior/Assistant/Associate Specialist
Biochemistry and Biophysics
UC San Francisco
The DeRisi lab is studying a wide range of infectious and human autoimmune diseases and seeks candidates with strong laboratory skills to work in a fast-paced research environment. Individuals interested in this position should have a working knowledge and understanding of DeRisi lab publications and the methods used (see lab website here: https://derisilab.ucsf.edu/ ). Successful candidates will work with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians and research scientists in the area of immunology, autoimmune disease, biochemistry, and genomics to carry out experiments and analyze data to ultimately undercover fundamental mechanisms driving human pathology.
Required Qualifications:
  • Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience to be appointed at the Junior rank.
  • Master's degree (or equivalent degree) or a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) with three or more years of research experience to be appointed at the Assistant rank.
  • Master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of research experience to be appointed at the Associate rank.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Molecular biology skills, including cloning, primer design, PCR, mammalian cell culture.
  • Basic microbiology skills.
  • Basic linux command line knowledge.
  • Next generation sequencing library construction and quality control, NGS sequence analysis on linux systems, python, and statistical analysis knowledge.
  • Protein expression and purification biochemistry.
  • Immunoassay development, including ELISA, Luminex, RLBA, and others.
  • Academic scholarly excellence including peer reviewed publications.
