IT Project Manager โ€“ EHR Implementation

Location: Harrisburg, PA โ€“ Hybrid (2 days onsite/week)
Duration: Contract
Experience: 7โ€“9+ years of Project Management experience

Job Summary

The State of Pennsylvania is looking for a Senior IT Project Manager to lead the implementation of a new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system across multiple health centers and clinical programs. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in EHR/EMR, Health IT, Health Informatics, and large-scale IT project management.

Required Skills
  • 7โ€“9+ years of IT Project Management experience.

  • Active PMP certification from PMI for at least 5 years.

  • Hands-on experience implementing a new EHR/EMR system, especially transitioning from paper-based charting to an electronic system.

  • Experience leading large-scale EHR implementation projects from planning through deployment and operations.

  • Strong knowledge of Health IT, Health Informatics, and EHR/EMR systems.

  • Experience managing technical teams, vendors, budgets, schedules, risks, and project deliverables.

  • Experience with project planning, governance, testing, implementation, and project reporting.

  • Strong experience with organizational change management (OCM).

  • Ability to manage multiple IT teams and stakeholders across different areas.

  • Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience with risk and issue management, RAID logs, and mitigation strategies.

  • Must currently reside in Pennsylvania.

  • Must be able to work onsite in Harrisburg, PA, 2 days per week.

  • Must be available for occasional onsite meetings at State Health Centers.

Nice to Have
  • Experience working with public health programs.

  • Experience with Commonwealth/State Government projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and changes.

  • Coordinate system testing, training, and implementation activities.

  • Prepare weekly status reports and project metrics for leadership.

  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings and provide regular updates to senior management.

  • Ensure the project meets business, technical, quality, budget, and schedule requirements.

  • Support the transition from EHR implementation to ongoing operations and maintenance.
