About the Position: This announcement is intended to provide readily available applicants for hard to fill positions as they become vacant. Duties
Help
  • Provide diagnostic evaluations, individual and group therapy, and brief evidence-based interventions within a multidisciplinary mental health clinic.
  • Assess and manage acute and chronic mental health concerns, including suicide risk, crisis presentations, and complex biopsychosocial conditions.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, command teams, and community partners to coordinate care, safety planning, and appropriate referrals.
  • Develop and document treatment goals using the "specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound" format, and maintain complete clinical records in accordance with federal, state, and hospital regulations.
  • Participate in and lead quality assurance and performance improvement activities, including reviewing clinical records, monitoring outcome measures, and evaluating clinical procedures.
  • Provide staff education, professional development, and training on mental health topics to strengthen clinical practice across the organization.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist (Mental Health):
Degree: Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Performing behavioral health assessments and/or psychological testing, developing behavioral health treatment plans and/or recommendations, and providing treatment to behavioral
health patients for an adult treatment population. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
