Job description

Description
Purpose of Job:
This position is responsible for in-person and telephone assessment of patient condition and determining appropriate treatment for patient under the supervision of the provider.
This position requires the RN to be present in the clinic, to support patient care when necessary to assist clinical personnel.
Job Functions:
  1. Assists in developing and maintaining appropriate triage system/protocols.
  2. Screens patient phone calls for urgency of need and prioritizes stat requests.
  3. Advises patient of treatment when appropriate according to clinic policy.
  4. Consults with provider or schedules appointment when needed.
  5. Maintains educational material for patients and staff.
  6. Provides patient care when necessary to assist clinical personnel.
  7. Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day.
  8. Develops, maintains and updates standing orders with providers.
  9. Follow refill request guidelines.
  10. Assist with patient related activities as needed.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Work Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Previous nursing experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Skills in assessment of patient condition and taking vital signs
  • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
  • Skills in preparing and maintaining records and reports
  • Ability to effectively handle high-stress fast paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

License/Certifications
  • Current professional nurse licensure in Minnesota or if licensed in another state, a permit from the Minnesota Board of Nursing while the license application is in process
  • Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of nursing experience
