Job Summary
  • Our Care Team triage RN provides skilled nursing assessments when triaging patients and provides appropriate direction for quality care. Gives a thorough report to the provider or nurse depending on the determined placement to serve the patient best. Schedules follow up and established care appointments in clinic. The RN provides healthcare advice for customers experiencing medical concerns or customers with questions for the care team. In addition to offering nursing support to customers and clinic staff, our triage RN collaborates with providers and other clinical staff to offer guidance and education. The incumbent proactively monitors and responds to customers’ messages for healthcare assistance using nursing processes in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and within the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Receives and responds messages and calls for healthcare assistance using nursing processes in accordance with applicable scope of practice. Independently, triage patients and assess their medical needs to determine priority of care and routes directly.
  • Addresses complex, urgent. emergent situations escalated from clinic staff.
  • Provides professional advice, education, and options based on assessment and clinical judgement. When appropriate contacts provider, Medical Assistant, or appropriate emergency response services.
  • May assist callers with scheduling appointments, and provide referrals to other healthcare professionals, clinics, hospitals, community resources and healthcare providers.
  • Documents symptoms/complaints, assessments, advice, and patient/customers responses. Accurately completes all required clinical documentation in electronic medical system.
  • Uses evidenced-based care standards throughout the nursing process. Make decisions reflecting knowledge of facts, knowledge of diseases/surgical conditions, care required, and good judgment.
  • Develop and maintain professional and clinical skills. Completes all annual competency and education requirements with established parameters and time periods. Participate in staff meetings and educational in-services. Maintains awareness of policies and procedures and performance standards.
  • Acts as a resource for other clinic staff.
  • Able to draw labs, knows normal values and reports abnormal values immediately to the provider.
  • EKG’s in clinic, knowledge of rhythms and report to provider.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
  • One year of triage nursing experience, or equivalent, preferred.
  • Three to five years of RN experience in related clinical areas required.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations

  1. Current RN license in the state of Washington.
  2. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or within 180 days of hire.
  3. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (PALS)certification within 3 months of hire.
