Medical Director – Infectious Disease (Outpatient)

Compensation: $315K - $465K

Job Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday, daytime schedule, in-person, outpatient clinic setting, no on-call.

Location: Austin, TX area

We are seeking an experienced Infectious Disease Physician to step into a Medical Director role within a growing outpatient healthcare and wellness clinic. This position offers a strong balance of clinical leadership and patient care in a well-supported, mission-driven environment focused on community health.This is an outpatient-only role with no nights or weekends, ideal for a physician looking to combine clinical practice with leadership responsibilities while maintaining work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality outpatient care to a diverse adult patient population
  • Diagnose and manage infectious diseases as well as common primary care conditions
  • Support and oversee clinical operations, ensuring quality, efficiency, and continuity of care
  • Collaborate closely with clinical and administrative leadership to support patient outcomes and clinic growth
  • Supervise and support advanced practice providers as required
  • Review labs, imaging, and consultant reports in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient retention, and care coordination efforts
  • Provide limited on-call coverage as needed

Qualifications

  • MD or DO
  • Must have Internal/Family Medicine/Adult Gerontology/Infectious Disease board certification
  • Active, unrestricted TX medical license OR Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC)
  • Valid DEA registration
  • 2+ years of prior outpatient clinical experience required
  • Experience or interest in clinical leadership preferred
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain required specialty certifications
  • Can have managemnt experience (overseeing a team) NOT MANDATORY
