The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking a Construction Project Manager, DER to join our Manufacturing team in Denver, CO. This individual is responsible for managing a single, well-scoped DER construction project under the guidance of a senior project manager, developing full project lifecycle ownership across budget, schedule, subcontractor coordination, compliance, and client communication. Build the foundational project management skills required to independently lead a project portfolio.

  • Manage the full lifecycle of an assigned, smaller-scope DER construction project under Sr. PM guidance, including planning, execution, and closeout.

  • Track and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources with increasing accountability for financial and schedule outcomes.

  •  Support compliance with contractual obligations, permitting, regulatory requirements, and environmental standards, including GC state and local license requirements.

  • Coordinate with field teams, engineers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to maintain project momentum and communication.

  • Identify and escalate risks impacting project cost, timeline, safety, and quality, with support from senior project management.

  •  Execute construction quality control plans and support client billing and monthly forecast reporting.

 What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; or equivalent experience

  • 2-5 years of experience in construction project management or coordination; DER, solar, or energy storage experience preferred

  • Knowledge & Skills: DER construction processes, project budget and schedule management, subcontractor and vendor coordination, permitting and regulatory compliance, quality control planexecution, client communication, and risk identification. Proficiency in project management software.

  • PMP pursuit encouraged.

The pay range for this position is $76,320 - $122,200 per year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
