As the Manager Advanced Technology, you will lead the Residential Engineering compressor technology team, fostering an inclusive environment that supports growth, critical thinking, and shared leadership. This role requires close global collaboration to find, evaluate, and develop new technologies, ensuring smooth transitions from concept to implementation, you will develop timely value creation by ensuring clear execution accountability with measurable progress. As an Engineering Manager, you will:
  • Coach, grow, and develop engineering talent and technical subject matter expertise
  • Demonstrate strong curiosity and critical thinking skills to enable problem solving and creation of new technology learning cycles.
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance for global team members on technology projects.
  • Work collaboratively with Product Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing and Technical Services teams to ensure new technologies are designed for industry leading performance.
  • Analyze and present progress toward development goals to team members and upper level management.
  • Evaluate new technologies, identify the key challenges to address, and develop plans to evaluate those key challenges.
  • Manage the HVACR Technology Readiness funnel process from TRL 1 to TRL 5
  • Work collaboratively in a culturally diverse team environment, and passionate about collaborating with a global team.
  • Stay aligned with business unit needs related to sales and marketing to anticipate future technology needs.
  • Build competency in and drive the integration model-based engineering techniques into the engineering development process.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 7 years work experience in rotating machinery design.
  • Must be self motivated and able to lead and motivate team members.
  • Proven success demonstrating strong analytical and problem solving skills with the predisposition to utilize model based tools to make engineering decisions
  • Strong relationship skills, ability to develop engineering talent, willingness to work closely with global engineering teams.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with cross functional team members at all organizational levels.
  • Willing and able to travel globally (<5%) to collaborate with global engineering teams, particularly to India.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Deep domain knowledge in the development of high speed rotating machinery.
  • Experience in thermodynamic, vapor compression cycle, and heat transfer engineering analysis applied to Air Conditioning and heat pump systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply key engineering principles to daily work, including physics, mechanics, materials science, and tribology
  • Experience in design of experiments methodology and root cause analysis problem solving methods.
  • Background in Agile methodology and leading sprints is very helpful.

Onsite Work Arrangement:
This role is based onsite, with remote work considered on an ad hoc basis.
