The Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI) is an international volunteer-led nonprofit organisation advancing the use of blockchain and emerging technologies to support global climate action. BCI collaborates with UN agencies, government stakeholders, and international standards bodies to shape policy, develop technical frameworks, and promote sustainable innovation.ย 

Role Overviewย 

The Senior Communications Manager plays a central role in executing BCI's communications strategy, leading multi-platform content campaigns, and ensuring consistent, high-quality storytelling across digital, editorial, and media touchpoints. This position sits within the Communications Branch and works closely with the Head of Communications to turn strategic goals into concrete outputs - from global policy initiatives to public campaigns and major events like COP31.ย 

This is a leadership position within the comms team, responsible for supervising junior volunteers, coordinating across teams, and helping shape the voice and visibility of the organisation.ย 

Key Responsibilities:

Campaigns & Content Leadershipย 

  • Lead the development and execution of content campaigns aligned with BCI priorities, including COP engagement, flagship initiatives, and climate-tech policyย 
    ย 
  • Act as managing editor for BCI's blog and newslettersย 
    ย 
  • Write and edit content across platforms, ensuring clarity, tone, and policy alignmentย 
    ย 
  • Support the production of web and visual materials in coordination with designers and developersย 
    ย 
  • Collaborate with the Head of Communications on key speeches, editorials, and organisational statementsย 

Project & Platform Managementย 

  • Coordinate cross-platform storytelling across website, social media, editorial, and eventsย 
    ย 
  • Manage campaign timelines, creative workflows, and volunteer assignmentsย 
    ย 
  • Ensure that all content is accessible, mobile-friendly, and aligned with BCI's brandingย 
    ย 
  • Maintain oversight of internal content calendars and deadlinesย 

Strategic Communicationsย 

  • Translate organisational strategy into actionable communications initiativesย 
    ย 
  • Monitor developments in climate policy, climate finance, and emerging technology to inform messaging and identify timely opportunitiesย 
    ย 
  • Contribute to media outreach and press activities, including drafting releases or backgroundersย 
    ย 
  • Support narrative development for partnership proposals, external speaking opportunities, and multilateral engagementsย 
    ย 

Team Collaborationย 

  • Mentor Communications Officers, copywriters, and content volunteersย 
    ย 
  • Provide feedback and guidance on writing, formatting, and visual storytellingย 
    ย 
  • Coordinate with the PR & Media team, Web team, and Research contributors to ensure cohesive messagingย 
    ย 
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal requests related to content development and comms supportย

Requirements

Skills & Experienceย 

  • Proven experience leading communications campaignsย

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across formats (digital, media, longform)ย

  • Strong organizational and project management capabilitiesย

Technical Toolsย
