Ballentine Partners is looking for an enthusiastic Portfolio Associate to join our growing Investments team.

The Portfolio Associate is responsible for supporting Senior Investment Advisors in providing asset allocation recommendations, portfolio construction and carrying out a significant portion of the detailed work required in executing the investment strategy.

Responsibilities include:
  • Construct trade plans and tax loss harvesting for client accounts
  • Draft Investment Policy Statements (IPS) and new client transition plans
  • Monitor cash flow, positions, trades, significant asset transfers and changes in client portfolios according to IPS
  • Work effectively with our professional contacts, including custodians and investment managers
  • Prepare client ready materials, including performance reports and client presentations
  • Communicate with clients on day-to-day issues, during the new account transition process, and potentially in meetings regarding Monte Carlo analyses
  • Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will:
  • Be a highly analytical, fact-based thinker with strong quantitative skills and attention to detail.
  • Possess strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and senior stakeholders.
  • Take a proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving, conducting independent research, anticipating issues, and proposing thoughtful solutions.
  • Be highly organized and able to manage competing priorities, take direction from multiple team members, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Work effectively both independently and collaboratively across teams, with a positive and collegial attitude.
  • Demonstrate sound professional judgment, discretion, and high standards of integrity.
  • Demonstrates advanced Excel skills, including the ability to build and analyze financial models.
  • Be comfortable learning and using investment software, CRM systems, and other technology tools.
  • Show a commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and achieving positive outcomes for clients.
  • Contribute to broader investment team and firmwide initiatives as needed.

A Bachelor’s Degree is required. CFA designation or progress toward it are a plus. This position requires Series 65 license which will be supported by Ballentine Partners if the right candidate does not have this licensing.

Two to five years of relevant experience. Candidates may demonstrate this experience through prior employment, internships, student-managed investment funds, or other rigorous analytical work.

Ballentine Partners compensation is made up of a base salary and performance bonus. The salary range for this position is $85,000.00 – $115,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. Performance bonuses are based upon company and personal performance and are paid annually.
