Join Our Team as an Independent Site Engineer

NV5 is seeking an Independent Site Engineer to support major heavy civil transportation projects in the Fresno, California area.

In this role, you'll serve as the on-site client representative for the California High-Speed Rail System. You'll provide technical leadership, construction oversight, coordination, and administration while helping guide the project from conceptual development through final construction.

This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on one of California's most significant infrastructure initiatives while working alongside experienced professionals dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality results.

Responsibilities 
  • Independently review and evaluate technical submittals, including construction documents, as-builts, change requests, and design variances.
  • Anticipate project requirements and identify issues early enough to prevent delays.
  • Coordinate with project staff to establish work plans, delegate responsibilities, and define each team member's scope of authority.
  • Verify that contractor work complies with the construction contract, approved plans, specifications, related documents, and authorized amendments.
  • Identify and help prevent construction defects, deficiencies, and quality issues through consistent field oversight.
  • Lead coordination among the client, program manager, design-builder, and numerous third-party stakeholders.
  • Apply strong knowledge of bridge construction, earthwork, and the interpretation of plans, specifications, and contract documents.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with heavy civil transportation projects
  • Caltrans construction methods and practices, minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Relevant past work experience performing field engineering tasks of increasing responsibility

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Business Development experience
  • Local agency and rail experience
  • Storm water Pollution and Prevention Plan implementation
  • Bridge Construction Experience
  • Multi discipline and agency coordination

The pay range for this California position is $150,000.00- $210,000.00 per year. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. .Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
