Responsibilities

The Senior Associate will join Oaktree's Forward Deployment Engineering team and play a key role in delivering AI-forward, data-driven solutions that improve the way investment, portfolio management, reporting and operational teams access, analyze and act on information. This individual will partner closely with investment professionals, project managers, technology, data teams and global support teams to build tactical solutions that provide immediate business lift, modernize reporting processes, and help design scalable tools that can be maintained and enhanced over time.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with investment professionals, portfolio management teams, client reporting teams, middle office teams, project managers and technology and data stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve reporting, analytics and operational workflows.
  • Own solutions from initial discovery and prototype through deployment, documentation, training and transition to long-term support teams.
  • Design, develop and enhance Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models and data products that support a range of funds, strategies and business use cases.
  • Build AI-forward, data-driven solutions using tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric and related platforms to streamline reporting, analysis, workflow automation and decision support.
  • Create practical technical solutions, including data models, reporting layers, workflow tools and prototypes.
  • Perform data engineering activities as needed, including sourcing, transforming, validating and structuring data for reporting, analytics and downstream consumption.
  • Develop tactical firmwide solutions that provide immediate lift across a variety of funds, strategies and business teams while balancing speed, quality and maintainability.
  • Challenge existing processes and identify better ways to deliver accurate, timely and scalable reporting and analytics.
  • Collaborate with global teams, including teams in India, to transition developed solutions into sustainable support models, including documentation, training and knowledge transfer.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand investment, portfolio management, cash management, client reporting and operational needs, and incorporate that understanding into solution design.
  • Support reporting and analytical needs related to portfolio management, fixed income, private credit, cash management, fund reporting, fact sheets and client reporting, as applicable.
  • Evaluate opportunities to apply AI, automation and modern data tools to reduce manual work, improve controls and increase transparency.
  • Communicate project status, risks, dependencies and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Perform various other tasks and projects as necessary.

Qualifications

  • 4-7 years of relevant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, financial technology, investment operations, middle office, portfolio reporting.
  • Familiarity with building Power BI dashboards, reports and semantic models.
  • SQL skills, including experience querying, validating, transforming and analyzing data.
  • Microsoft Fabric or similar modern data platforms preferred.
  • Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or similar platforms to improve productivity and workflows.
  • Working knowledge of data engineering concepts, including data ingestion, transformation and validation.
  • Ability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Understanding of investment management, portfolio management, cash management, client reporting or middle office processes preferred.
  • Fixed income, private credit, alternative investment or asset management experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge with fact sheets, portfolio analytics or recurring client/investor reporting is a plus.
  • Financial modeling experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills.

Base Salary Range

$130,000 - $160,000
In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
