About Us: The Lafayette Company is a boutique political communications firm based in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. We specialize in providing strategic communication services to a diverse range of clients, with a focus on center-right and conservative policy and political communities. We are currently seeking a highly skilled full-time Senior Director of Media Relations to join our growing team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategic media relations campaigns for corporate, policy, nonprofit, and political clients
  • Organize major media events and secure high-profile placements
  • Leverage an existing, active network of reporters, editors, producers, and bookers to deliver results from day one
  • Pitch op-eds and coordinate media interviews across print, digital, and broadcast
  • Mentor and oversee junior media relations staff
  • Contribute to business development and client acquisition efforts
Qualifications and Experience
  • 6–9 years of national media relations experience
  • An established, active Rolodex of media contacts across print, digital, and broadcast — this is non-negotiable
  • Demonstrated placement success at national outlets
  • Strong ties to center-right and conservative policy communities
  • Exceptional writer with a proven track record
  • Background in Capitol Hill, campaigns, think tanks, PACs, or nonprofits
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff
  • Self-starter who thrives both independently and collaboratively
  • Willing to work in-person with the team in Old Town Alexandria with periodic travel
Salary and Benefits
  • $120,000–$135,000 starting salary, depending on experience
