Senior Manager, PR

Allen & Gerritsen

Boston, MA • On-site

Full-time

Posted 20 days ago

Job description

At A&G, we are recognized and envied for our craft and creative efficacy. Our mission is to seek and attract the most fearless talent and brave brands who want to do work that works. We believe in the power of creativity to transform brands, businesses, and communities, and we are driven by insights, imagination, and tireless collaboration. We exist to help brands be Unignorable.

A&G is seeking a rising public relations star to join our PR practice in Boston as a Senior Manager, PR. This role will lead and support day-to-day earned media and account management efforts for clients spanning categories including food & beverage, travel & hospitality, and social impact. The Senior Manager will be an integral member of a collaborative public relations, creator relations, and social media practice within a top independent, full-service advertising agency.

Note that A&G is a hybrid agency, and this role will be expected to collaborate in-person three days a week in our Boston ThirdSpace. Some client-related evening and weekend events will also be expected, with built-in time off following.

Craftsmanship

Continuously elevate the quality of our PR and Newsroom capabilities to amplify business outcomes, drive exceptional agency output, and deliver an outstanding client experience.

  • Serve as a client contact/relationship manager, managing everyday account activities with support of the broader PR team.
  • Serve as a core member of the PR practice's Newsroom, the heart of our earned media discipline, instrumental in driving and deepening the agency's capabilities across media relations, thought leadership development, and executive branding.
  • Actively lead media relations efforts, building relationships with reporters/producers and securing business-purposeful media placements.
  • Lead projects, campaigns, and specific tracks of client accounts, from strategy and concepting, to final reporting.
  • Regularly track and collaborate with account leads to report on performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for continuous optimization.
  • Support and implement crisis communications strategies as needed.
  • Lead and provide direction for junior team members on important foundational activities including media monitoring, pitch tracking, and monthly activity reporting.

Curiosity

Proactively explore the evolving PR and Newsroom landscape to enhance our partnerships and make our contributions to client relationships and the final work stronger.

  • Proactively, consistently stay on top of and share trending news and cultural moments that drive strategic connections and growth for clients.
  • Lead research and development of weekly trend reports.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to research, maintain, and stay up-to-date on latest industry practices and resources, including department tools.

Creativity

A problem solver to the core, you'll constantly seek new approaches to strengthen your work, ideas, and our teams at large - pushing against the conventional to spark action.

  • Lead and support the development of tailored PR strategies based on the understanding of client's business objectives, target audiences, and competitive landscape.
  • Support the PR practice in integrated meetings and new business pitches.
  • Collaborate with A&G colleagues across disciplines - including strategy, performance analytics, creative, production, business leadership, and program management - to develop and execute comprehensive marketing campaigns.

Culture

You are a present and positive member of our A&G community, demonstrating our values and fostering an energizing and inclusive environment that transcends our walls.

  • Mentor and help coach Associates and Managers, and manage PR interns.
  • Actively contribute to fostering a collaborative, high-performance, and inclusive agency culture.

What You Bring:

  • You have 4-6 years of relevant agency experience, or have worked on the client side in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple projects, lines of business, and growth areas simultaneously.
  • You have solid media relationships and can share examples of reporters you can call in a crunch and pitches that you've converted from innovative ideas into secured placements. Note that a portfolio will be required.
  • Writing is your superpower. If you've been told by teachers, friends, or managers that "you're a great writer," then you have an essential piece of the puzzle. We're looking for a combination of outstanding technical and creative writing that's been applied to draft key messaging, press releases, bylines, speeches, and op-eds.
  • You're open to not being a specialist; while most team members have a heavier focus on one or two divisions (B2B, Consumer, Social Impact), we encourage and expect a willingness to work across categories.
  • You have experience managing projects from start to finish and instill confidence in your colleagues and managers that you'll get the job done.
  • You're entrepreneurial in spirit. You respect established processes but are equally as excited about new challenges that haven't been approached before and building something new.
  • You love consuming the news and staying current with current trends, especially within your clients' industries.
  • You know that the quality of work is dependent on the strength of a team, and you're eager to be a contributing member, learn from others, jump into projects when all hands are needed on deck.
  • You love being a people manager and prioritize coaching and mentorship of junior team members. This point is last on the list in sequence but first in priority.

Why A&G?

  • Join a vibrant team that values creativity, innovation, and making a positive impact.
  • Work with a diverse range of clients across industries such as Travel, Tourism, Healthcare, Financial Services, Restaurants, Retail, Food & Beverage, Higher Education, Economic Development and Clean Energy/Sustainability.
  • Be part of a culture that encourages continuous learning, professional growth, and having fun while doing great work.
  • Collaborate with a team driven by insights, imagination, and tireless collaboration to create inventive brand experiences that evoke emotion, spur action, and create impact.
  • Help brands and people transform into the best version of themselves so they can live their purpose each day and have a positive impact on the world.

If you're ready to take your career to the next level and contribute to transforming brands, businesses, and communities, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and let's create something amazing together.

*A&G is not offering immigration sponsorship for this position at this time or in the future.*
