The Manager of Client Finance role is fully remote (or work from our luxury offices in Chicago, Indianapolis, Boston, NYC, Gladstone NJ if preferred).

Position Summary

The Manager, Client Finance will oversee the overall financial management & forecasting for our client portfolio, reporting, general day-to-day activities, and related month end close duties.

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise the overall monthly project accounting efforts including preparing and leading the monthly status meetings with project managers including managing project updates across financial trackers.
  • Manage new contract engagements & assessing related contracts/projects including understanding contract components & ensuring accuracy of project set up.
  • Guide the Client finance team on project tracking related items. Review/Address concerns around project tracking/funds compared to project budgets.
  • Report and present project financials to project leads/stakeholders.
  • Manage set up of new clients including review of MSA's for rebates and discounts. Collaborate with legal, and other cross functional leads on contracting for finance related inputs, review of IP language as applicable, etc.
  • Liaise/Collaborate with other finance teams regarding intercompany revenue/cost transactions and contracting. Manage Interco contract executions including cost allocations, project budgets & scope changes.
  • Review business unit(s) project revenues and ensure compliance with client contracts including new contract awards updates and pickup of out of period revenue.
  • Understand and elevate potential issues to ensure proper accounting and revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP. Assist with yearend ASC 606 compliance meetings & documentation.
  • Prepare monthly project revenue forecast and comparisons to budget/plan. For Pipeline revenue, collaborate with FP&A where applicable to ensure accuracy of overall revenue waterfall to budget/plan.
  • Manage hours and expenses for client projects incurred to track against forecast, assigned roles/rates based on information provided by project leads including mapping of new roles and rates and other revenue/cost adjustments where applicable.
  • Manage client invoicing based on contracts, reconcile issues and follow up with customers on past due invoices. Manage unbilled revenue aging and adherence to client invoicing guidelines. Follow up on past due AR. Advise on project invoicing recommendations where applicable.
  • Manage monthly client accruals and submissions to clients. Consolidate accruals with other Precision entities as applicable.
  • In conjunction with FP&A, review business development opportunities with Senior management and prepare project revenue and business development opportunity variance analysis to budget and projection for Controllers and Senior management. Report on out of period revenue pickup.
  • Manage project costs compared to contracted amounts as well as other direct costs shared across projects/clients.
  • Review & report subcontractor expenses monthly (billable vs. non-billable) and future forecasted subcontractor costs. Management of subcontractor agreements.
  • Review & Analyze monthly general ledger account reconciliations for compliance with GAAP. Forecast expenses compared to budget/plan in coordination with cross functional teams.
  • Secondary high-level review of expense reports, invoices and/or credit card bookings for comparison to budget/forecast, new vendor approvals & documentation, high value payments.
  • Review & reconcile intercompany transactions. Collaborate with other finance department heads to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as applicable, including the annual budget preparation. Take the lead on budgeting for specific P&L line items including managing revenue and cost amounts with business & FP&A inputs as applicable.
  • Manage audit timelines & communications with audit team. Review & reconcile supporting documents for the annual audit. Prepare supporting documents & schedules for the audit. Manage up where audit deliverables will require additional collaboration/input.
  • Proactively reevaluating processes for cost savings and efficiencies. Lead conversations in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures to enhance the workflow of the department and drive efficiencies.
  • Update forecast based on understanding of financial performance and future plans. Assist with ad hoc reporting and analysis as required. Collaborate with FP&A as applicable in identifying key variances for presentation to various stakeholders including presentation options for future decision collaborations.
  • Prepare and analyze the monthly financial reporting package to executive management, review FP&A inputs on back tabs as applicable.
  • Advise staff on best practices in approach to client finances and on non-routine financial transactions. Manage & mentor direct reports & junior staff through career development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum concentration accounting, finance or business
  • 6+ years of relevant accounting/finance experience to include 2-3 years in a supervisory role

This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Precision, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. This role is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, health insurance, retirement savings benefits, life insurance and disability benefits, parental leave, and paid time off for sick leave and vacation, among other benefits.
