Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for aย Project Manager (Large Capital Projects) - Supporting Client Engineering Department in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. Successful candidate must be local to the Deer Park, TX area (there is no relocation assistance or per diem offered).

Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required

Description / Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed the company and customer safety standards
  • Comply with all company and customer procedures, engineering practices and other standards
  • Responsible for managing and coordinating capital projects at the Texas facilities (Deer Park and Bayport, TX sites)
  • This position adds value to The Lubrizol Corporation and contributes to achieving maximum profitability by installing and improving the capital assets required to produce products and meet governmental regulations
  • Familiar with and is able to utilize the "Stage Gate" approach for project development and execution
  • Understands and is familiar with estimating methodologies as relating to project development and execution
  • Provide Leadership to the project team and stakeholders when developing and executing projects
  • Complete projects on budget per the project schedule
  • Manage and execute Projects >$500,000 with an occasional smaller one to execute from time to time
  • Develop and manage the project scope of work
  • Manage project engineering design activities and ensure compliance to Lubrizol requirements
  • Read and fully understand Project Design Packages including but not limited to; Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Equipment Data Sheets, Piping Specifications, Piping drawings, Instrument-Electrical-Control (IEC) drawings, Instrument Data Sheets and Civil-Structural (C/S) drawings
  • Manage project procurement activities
  • Manage change orders and sponsor requirements
  • Effectively manage any changes to scope, execution or other that potentially impact cost and/or schedule
  • Manage project construction activities and understand key performance indicators
  • Understand and manage schedule logic and the critical path in the project schedule
  • Engage in departmental initiatives to improve various practices and procedures related to effective project management
  • Cooperative, efficient, self-motivated and team oriented
  • Utilize effective interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and planning skills

Skills / Qualifications:

  • A BS or MS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering
  • 10+ years of related experience in project engineering and project management
  • Excellent computer and organizational skills
  • The ability to keep information confidential
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of detailed engineering contractor 3D software/tools

Additional Desired Skills / Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer license (P.E.)
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience using the Independent Project Analysis (a.k.a. IPA) project execution methodology
