Job description

Certified Nursing Assistant

On behalf of CNS Cares ("CNS" or "Company"), this position is responsible for assisting the assigned client(s) with daily living activities including but not limited to: ambulation, exercise, personal care, homemaker services, dietary needs and other daily life activities. In addition, this position will report changes in the client's condition and needs and complete appropriate records.

Essential functions:

Team members must have regular attendance/punctuality, be able to work with others at all levels of the company, have exceptional customer service, and conduct themselves with the highest ethical standards. Other assigned duties include:

  • Demonstrates competence and skills as a certified nursing assistant.
  • Reports on changes in the client's ability and compliance with the Plan of Care for the improvement of client care.
  • Assist clients to do as many Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) as possible, while giving assistance to the client that is on the Plan of Care. ADL's may include but are not limited to the following: bed mobility, bathing, oral care, hair care, nail care, skin care, transfers, toileting, peri-care, assists clients with medication reminders, prepares light meals, etc.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
  • Apply safety principles and proper body mechanics to the performance of specific techniques of personal and supportive care such as ambulation, transfer, positioning of clients, assisting with the normal range of motion and doing household chores.
  • Prepares and provides medically prescribed nutrition and fluid intake.
  • Understands the basic elements of body functioning and reports changes in client's body functioning as indicated.
  • Performs environmental services as assigned.
  • Follows specific written instructions for personal care prepared by a supervisor in accordance with the Aide Care Plan.
  • Assists client with prescribed exercise as instructed per supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Language skills: Must be able to read, understand general business practices, policies and procedures. Must be able to write with clarity. Must be able to effectively communicate information and respond to questions clients, customers, and co-workers. Must be able to communicate accurately and clearly with company staff and team members.

Decision making: Identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; and communicate these with supervisors.

Requirements:

Scheduling is based on patient needs, which may fluctuate and could include weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. All direct care providers must possess a valid and current driver's license and independent and reliable transportation to patient homes to ensure patient privacy.

Education/training:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant.
  • Meets state specific CNA licensing requirements.

Licensure/certification:

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • CPR/First Aide Certification.
  • CNA Certification.

Clearances:

  • Criminal background.
  • Drug Screening (when required by state regulations).
  • Driving Record.
  • OIG Exclusion List.
  • Sex Offender Registry.
