What You'll Do: Lead a talented team and play a key role in the financial reporting, analysis, and governance of the company's investment portfolio. Lead and develop a team of investment accounting professionals, fostering an environment of collaboration, engagement, continuous learning, and high performance. Oversee the accurate and timely accounting and reporting of a diverse investment portfolio. Partner with Finance, Treasury, Investment Management, Actuarial, Operations, and external auditors to ensure investment activity is accurately recorded and reported in compliance with Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), U.S. GAAP, other regulatory requirements, and company policies. Provide meaningful analysis and insights that support financial reporting, capital planning, and strategic business decisions. Identify emerging accounting, reporting, and industry developments and communicate potential impacts and recommendations to leadership. Lead process improvement and automation initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, strengthen controls, and create capacity for higher-value analytical work. Ensure a strong internal control environment and facilitate efficient completion of internal and external audits, examinations, and regulatory inquiries. Manage department priorities, resource planning, and workload balancing to support organizational objectives and team success. Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on investment accounting matters throughout the organization. What It Takes to Join Our Team: Bachelor's degree (Accounting or Finance preferred) with 8+ years' relevant experience. Supervisory experience. Certified Public Accountant designation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and capable of dealing with all levels of employees as well as outside professionals. Advanced specialized knowledge of insurance statutory accounting related to investments with additional experience with GAAP. Results-oriented with strong analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently and manage a team of professionals. Proficiency with Excel and ability to learn other software applications specific to the job.
