Details

The University of Iowa Health Care department of Safety and Security is seeking a Temp Clerk II to perform work related to visitor management such as computing and requiring independent judgment in the application of policies and procedures within the area of assignment and according to the stated guidelines. Duties will involve the use of Epic, computer terminals, and/or a variety of software and conventional office equipment. This position will be located at the entrances to the hospital, with the main responsibilities being checking in visitors, assisting with wayfinding as necessary, de-escalating situations with patients and visitors, providing real time feedback to Safety Ambassadors, and ensuring all entrance operations are running smoothly.

  • Knowledge of institution policies and procedures to relay information to visitors, patients, staff, vendor, etc.
  • Skill in operating office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and the public.
  • Ability to collect data, keep accurate records, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.

Percent of Time: 50-100%

Schedule: Monday - Friday

5:00 am-01:30 pm

7:00 am-3:30 pm

11:00 am-7:30 pm

This is a temporary role. Merit temporary positions are limited to 780 hours per fiscal year.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Any combination of clerical office experience, undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is equivalent to one year of full-time employment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer software applications
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience training, managing, and providing feedback to staff
