Elevator Worker - Mt Auburn, IL
Position Type: Full-Time, Hourly
Pay: $20.00/hr
Shifts:
  • 1st Shift: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday-Friday
    (Schedules may adjust during holiday weeks based on Mt. Auburn operational needs-e.g., shifting to Tuesday-Friday when a Monday holiday occurs, or adjusting around midweek holidays. Harvest hours will vary. Need ability to work 6 days a week during peak times. )
 
Position Summary:
ADM is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Elevator Worker to join our grain operations team in Mt. Auburn, Illinois. This hands-on role is essential to the safe and efficient operation of the facility, supporting daily activities such as receiving, handling, drying, storing, and loading grain. Elevator Workers help maintain smooth product flow and a clean, safe work environment while operating in a fast-paced agricultural setting.
 

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities at the Mt. Auburn facility may include, but are not limited to:
  • Loading and unloading grain from trucks and railcars using both automated and manual equipment
  • Operating and monitoring grain dryers, conveyors, elevators, and other material handling systems
  • Supporting receiving and shipping operations, ensuring accurate documentation and safe product transfer
  • Performing regular housekeeping duties including sweeping, vacuuming, shoveling grain, and cleaning equipment to maintain a clean, tour-ready facility
  • Conducting routine walk-throughs to identify product flow issues, equipment concerns, or potential safety hazards
  • Assisting with basic maintenance and troubleshooting of grain handling equipment
  • Supporting seasonal activities, including pre-harvest preparation and post-harvest cleanup
  • Monitoring equipment performance and promptly reporting malfunctions or safety issues
  • Communicating effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and inbound/outbound truck drivers
  • Following all ADM safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space, fall protection, and all Mt. Auburn site-specific safety protocols
  • Participating in safety meetings, required training, and continuous improvement efforts
Qualifications & Requirements:
Required:
  • Commitment to ADM's zero-injury safety culture
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, including safety and operational procedures
  • Strong attendance record and dependable work ethic
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts based on Mt. Auburn operational needs
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work in outdoor and non-climate-controlled environments, with exposure to weather, dust, noise, and grain odors
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights; comfortable using ladders and stairs
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and sit for extended periods
  • Ability to wear respiratory protection and all other required PPE
Preferred:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, warehouse, or grain-handling environments
  • Basic mechanical aptitude or interest in grain facility operations
