Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a DevOps Systems Administrator to support a classified DoD environment in San Diego, CA. This role provides advanced technical support for Windows and Linux systems, network infrastructure, user services, and enterprise applications. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills, experience supporting classified environments, and the ability to resolve complex technical issues escalated from Tier 1 support teams. Program Opportunity: 5 year long Command & Control RDT&E Program (Currently 4 years remaining) Work Environment: Full-time, on-site role in San Diego, CA supporting classified operations. Remote work is limited and only available under approved circumstances. This position requires close collaboration with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams in a mission-focused environment. Responsibilities: * Provide Tier 2 technical support for hardware, software, network, and user account issues. * Configure and maintain Windows and Linux operating systems, applications, and network devices. * Support authentication services, account management, access controls, and system administration activities. * Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and infrastructure issues across multiple sites. * Support distributed systems and enterprise platforms including Hadoop, Kafka, HBase/Accumulo, and Spark environments. * Utilize automation and scripting tools including Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Puppet, and Terraform. * Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, knowledge base articles, and operational procedures. * Collaborate with development teams to resolve Linux platform issues and support product enhancements. * Maintain compliance with DoD and Intelligence Community security requirements and best practices. * Support asset management, file archiving, system maintenance, and recovery operations. * Track work and document activities within Agile management platforms such as Jira, Confluence, and GitLab. Qualifications: * Active TS/SCI clearance required. * 2-4+ years of Tier 2 Help Desk, DevOps, System Administration, or Technical Support experience supporting Linux environments. * Experience administering Windows and Linux operating systems in secure enterprise environments. * Experience configuring and troubleshooting network infrastructure, authentication services, and enterprise applications. * Familiarity with DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Kubernetes, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows 10, Grafana, Rancher, and related technologies.
* Experience with STIGs and ACAS scans.
* Experience with scripting and infrastructure automation tools (Bash, Python, Ansible, or Terraform).
* Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to support classified environments and occasional surge operational requirements. Certifications & Requirements: * DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level I Certification required (Security+ and Computing Environment certification or equivalent). Preferred: * Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community environments. * Knowledge of Joint IO Range, Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN), or similar programs. * Familiarity with ACAS, Cloud Security Gateway, and enterprise cybersecurity practices. * Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automated provisioning technologies. Compensation: * Salary range: $120,000 - $160,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
