Role Summary:

The Workers' Compensation Claims Specialist oversees and performs a full range of professional, strategic, and coordinative efforts for the Workers' Compensation claims process. This position will oversee and handle all workers' compensation claims for the organization, in addition to the oversight of the company's Third-Party Administrators. This role reports directly to the Sr. Claims Manager and will also communicate with external partners. This exciting and important role will be integral in ensuring Cinemark's Workers' Compensation claims process is aligned with industry best practices, fits the company culture and business strategy, and provides great value to our team members.

Responsibilities

  • Triages new incidents, conducts initial investigations, and collaborates with TPA on handling
  • Collects pertinent information for TPA, as needed
  • Analyzes claim costs, makes recommendations, and mitigates exposure by expediting closure with appropriate action plan in collaboration with the Third-Party Administrator and/or Insurer
  • Manages the multi-state Return to Work Program
  • Coordinates directly with team members, adjusters, case managers, and medical providers for quick resolution of claims and ensures the program is followed
  • Oversees monopolistic state worker's compensation claims for OH and WA
  • Acts as liaison to claims adjusters and attorneys regarding litigated claims
  • Utilizes and updates files in Risk Management Information System (RMIS)
  • Ensures multi-state compliance in the claim management process
  • Coordinates, attends and leads litigation planning conferences with defense counsel and Third-Party Administrator on litigated matters
  • Supports Risk Management with day-to-day requests, analyzing loss trends and strategy, ad-hoc reporting, and other related projects
  • Oversees regulatory WC state postings during renewal
  • Additional tasks as requested by supervisor, and may have opportunity to assist with General Liability matters

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on Workers' Compensation adjusting experience, managing claims within a Risk Management Department or the Claims Department of an insurance carrier or Third-Party Administrator
  • 2+ years of Customer Service experience with a proven record of success
  • 3+ years of Workers' Compensation Litigation Management experience
  • All-Lines Adjuster License or Workers' Compensation Adjuster License
  • Associate in Claims (AIC), preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • An understanding of legal principles related to Workers' Compensation
  • Knowledge of Workers' Compensation procedures in monopolistic states - OH and WA
  • Ability to think analytically and logically to make independent decisions
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with external partners
  • Multi-state jurisdictional experience is a plus
  • High level of enthusiasm and energy
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work under competing deadlines
  • Must be detailed and results oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Etc.) and RMIS and/or Claims systems
