We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager to join our collaborative and dynamic team in Houston, TX. You will play a key role at DCCM by overseeing and managing residential land development projects, including site grading, drainage, roadway construction, utility infrastructure, and residential community planning. In this role, you will provide guidance and leadership throughout the planning, design, and construction phases. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, assign, supervise, and motivate the work of project team members
  • Effectively design and manage all aspects of land development projects from concept, to design, through completion
  • Perform and oversee the design of land projects including but not limited to layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, etc.
  • Ensure performance of QA/QC procedures on all project deliverables
  • Coordinate inspection of construction work performed under contracts, including the interpretation and revision of plans and specifications while maintaining related records and reports
  • Provide direction to staff engaged in the design, preparation of drawings, plans specifications, and estimates for a variety of projects and contracts
  • Perform and manage multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines
  • Monitor projects to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and coordinate activities with various project approval agencies
  • Professionally represent client issues at meetings and conferences with project stakeholders
  • Read and interpret technical engineering reports and studies, analyze facts, make independent decisions, and communicate all findings to client and project stakeholders, as appropriate
  • Act as an internal consultant to fellow team members, providing input for business decisions and effectively communicating said decisions
  • Recommend and refine improvements to departmental procedures on an on-going basis, identifying "best business practices"
  • Support pre-contract and business development efforts as required, serving as technical consultant
  • Prepare clear, concise correspondence and complex technical reports using correct punctuation, spelling and grammar
  • Performs other duties as requested

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Possess valid Texas (TX) Professional Engineer licensure
  • 6+ years progressive design responsible experience in professional civil engineering with a concentration in land development and permitting
  • 3+ years of project management experience, including the supervision and development of junior level engineers
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Proper knowledge of local city, county, state and federal design codes and regulations, as well as industry practices and regulations
  • Read and understand construction drawings and legal documents
  • Demonstrate and perform sound engineering principles in problem solving
  • Possess an entrepreneurial and professional demeanor, as well as strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Lead and contribute to the design, execution and project management support for all projects
  • Maintain client and contractor relationships and attend necessary meetings in the greater Houston area
  • Desire and ability to seek out new business opportunities and develop additional clients while maintaining project workload
  • Develop and implement departmental policies 
  • Ability to work well on multi-disciplinary projects
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage, motivate, mentor and lead others
  • Demonstrated ability to work with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies
