Job description

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of civil engineering aspects of multifamily construction and land development projects. The ideal candidate will manage all civil-related tasks, including site development, infrastructure design review, and coordination with stakeholders, to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires a strong background in civil engineering, project management, and multifamily development, along with excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning and Management: Coordinate with design team on detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets for civil engineering components of multifamily projects, including site grading, utilities, stormwater management, and roadways.
  • Site Development Oversight: Coordinate site preparation, earthwork, and infrastructure installation (e.g., water, sewer, drainage, and access roads) specific to multifamily residential developments.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and multifamily developers to ensure alignment on project goals and specifications.
  • Permitting and Compliance: Obtain necessary permits and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including zoning, environmental standards, and building codes relevant to multifamily housing.
  • Cost Management: Prepare cost estimates, monitor project expenditures, and implement cost-control measures to keep civil engineering work within budget.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee construction activities to ensure civil work meets design specifications, safety standards, and client expectations for multifamily properties.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor project teams, including engineers, surveyors, and field staff, delegating tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks (e.g., site conditions, weather delays) and develop mitigation strategies to maintain project timelines and quality.
  • Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for ownership, providing regular updates on progress, addressing concerns, and ensuring satisfaction with civil deliverables.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate project records, including progress reports, QC reports, and as-built drawings, for multifamily project handover.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering project management, with at least 7 years focused on multifamily residential projects (e.g., apartments, condominiums) or land development.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in civil design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D), project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of civil construction methods, site development, and infrastructure design specific to multifamily housing, including utilities, parking, and pedestrian access.
  • Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience:
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering civil engineering scopes for multifamily projects, including mid-rise or high-rise residential buildings.
  • Experience working with municipal agencies and navigating permitting processes for urban or suburban multifamily sites.
Working Conditions:
