EMCS, Inc. provides a wide range of civil engineering services including transportation engineering, structural engineering, traffic engineering, construction engineering, site development, environmental studies, and surveying. EMCS serves public and private clients in a variety of small and large-scale projects. The company was founded in 1983 and has offices in Milwaukee, Wausau, and Madison, Wisconsin; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Bergland, Michigan.
We are seeking a civil engineer with drainage experience to join our Wausau, WI team and be an integral contributor for the design and delivery of a variety of transportation and site development projects.

Responsibilities include:
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses for roadway, highway, interchange, bridge, and site projects
  • Design closed storm sewer systems, roadside ditches, culverts, underdrains, and cross-drainage structures
  • Develop drainage designs in accordance with DOT manuals, AASHTO guidance, and FHWA requirements
  • Evaluate design storm criteria, roadway spread, inlet spacing, and erosion control measures
  • Develop and refine H&H models using tools such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D/2D), SWMM, HydroCAD, or equivalent
  • Develop 3D models, exhibits, and plans for transportation, municipal, and site development projects
  • Assist in technical design for a variety of civil engineering transportation projects
  • Coordinate with utility companies and other agencies
  • Calculate quantities and develop construction cost estimates
  • Participate in quality assurance and reviews of design plans, specifications, and estimates

Requirements
Requirements include:
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering
  • 2+ years professional experience in the civil engineering field including design experience in site or transportation design drainage facility design, storm water management, and permitting in Wisconsin
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, hydrology, and hydraulic software
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
