Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Engineer to play a key role in the design, development, and execution of utility-scale PV Solar, and Wind projects. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in conducting, reviewing, and analyzing complex technical studies and project scopes, with proven expertise in creating and evaluating technical specifications, drawings, and industry standards. In this position, you will work collaboratively with engineers and multidisciplinary teams across the organization to ensure the successful and timely delivery of innovative renewable energy projects. The candidate should demonstrate strong communication, and problem-solving skills, contributing technical excellence and creative solutions throughout every stage of the project lifecycle.

The position is based in Downtown Houston with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise engineering teams in conducting feasibility studies, preparing technical drawings, and generating detailed engineering reports to guide project decisions.
  • Coordinate actively with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure timely, cost-effective project delivery, proactively identifying and mitigating risks throughout the process.
  • Lead and oversee quality assurance for civil works, including roads, grading, and utility installation, ensuring strict adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations; conduct thorough site inspections and audits as needed.
  • Review, update, and develop internal engineering standards for integration into project workflows to drive continuous improvement.
  • Participate in on-site, field, and virtual meetings with contractors to provide expert engineering support and guidance, advancing project design and resolving challenges.
  • Assess site development designs to identify cost-saving measures, promote consistency, and optimize construction methods.
  • Conduct detailed constructability reviews to anticipate and resolve potential issues before construction begins.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation-including design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and engineering reports-ensuring accuracy, currency, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Work closely with GIS specialists to develop comprehensive maps, technical drawings, and project details that support planning and execution.
  • Excel in fast-paced environments by collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary, global project teams to achieve project goals and deliver innovative solutions.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and execution of utility-scale renewable energy projects, including PV, BESS, and Wind.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one state in the USA.
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and PVcase. Focus on site plan layout, geometric design of access roads and driveways, grading, drainage, and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Proficiency in Python for civil engineering applications, such as data analysis, automation, and design optimization.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
  • Ability to multi-task and function while working in either a team or individual environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with a strong ability to create, edit, and manage documents, spreadsheets, and presentations efficiently.
  • Must possess strong technical verbal and technical writing skills and be able to read and interpret technical literature and engineering plans.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to apply professional knowledge to the solution of both routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities.
