Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a motivated Civil EIT / Technologist - Transit to join our growing Valley Line West LRT team in Edmonton, Alberta. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced rail professionals, supporting the delivery of transit projects with a focus on light rail and urban transportation infrastructure.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the Owners Engineering team by monitoring and reporting on contractor construction progress.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of all technical disciplines involved in LRT projects, including geotechnical, structural, architectural, mechanical, track, and rail systems.
  • Prepare and deliver technical memos and presentations; contribute to cost estimate development.
  • Create tracking systems to measure contractor schedule performance using Excel and Microsoft Project.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct site visits, field reviews, and track inspections as needed.
  • Assist in contract compliance reviews of design deliverables.
  • Manage non-conformance reports and quality processes with effective prioritization and time management.
  • Ensure alignment with project scope and requirements through coordination with other disciplines.
  • Contribute to procurement documentation and technical specifications.
    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) + minimum 2 years of relevant experience in civil or rail/transit engineering OR Civil Technical Diploma + minimum 4 years experience in civil or rail/ transit engineering

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligible for immediate registration with APEGA
    • Experience on rail, transit or transportation projects (LRT experience is an asset)
    • Understanding of rail design standards (e.g., AREMA or local transit standards)
    • Strong communication and coordination skills
    • Familiarity writing or managing compliance with contract documents and specifications
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
