Your work environment at EXP

As a Senior Civil Engineer, Mining, you will join our Mining & Metals team based in one of our offices in Sudbury, North Bay, St. John's, NL or Brampton. In this role, you will lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex mining and industrial infrastructure projects across Canada. You will serve as a technical resource and project leader, guiding multidisciplinary teams while supporting clients through all stages of project development, from feasibility studies and detailed engineering to construction and commissioning.

  • Lead the civil engineering design and delivery of mining, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
  • Provide technical leadership for site development, stormwater management, earthworks, water management systems, mine access roads, tailings facilities, and civil infrastructure.
  • Direct and review engineering analyses, calculations, and modeling related to hydrology, hydraulics, drainage systems, erosion and sediment control, seepage, and site-wide water management.
  • Lead engineering studies, feasibility assessments, conceptual designs, and detailed engineering packages.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record and provide professional review and stamping of engineering documentation where applicable.
  • Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, resources, and client expectations.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure quality project execution and successful delivery.
  • Lead technical reviews and provide mentorship, coaching, and development opportunities for junior and intermediate engineers, EITs, designers, and technologists.
  • Support construction activities through site reviews, construction observation, commissioning support, and technical issue resolution.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, design criteria documents, specifications, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, permit applications, and regulatory submissions.
  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, client presentations, relationship management, and identifying new opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, regulators, Indigenous communities, and project stakeholders.

What your experience looks like

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in a Canadian province.
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with significant experience supporting mining, industrial, or heavy infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive experience in site development, grading design, earthworks, drainage systems, stormwater management, and water infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of mining infrastructure, including mine site development, access roads, tailings facilities, water management systems, and related civil works.
  • Proven project management experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through construction.
  • Experience managing project teams, budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other civil engineering design software.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical recommendations and their application to civil engineering design.
  • Experience developing construction specifications, contract documents, procurement packages, technical bid evaluations, and cost estimates.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable Canadian design standards, regulatory requirements, mining legislation, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team development experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Willingness to travel periodically to project sites and client locations.

The salary range for this role is between $90,000 - $119,000.ย The actual compensation package will be based on several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to qualifications, years of experience, technical expertise, professional designations, and geographic location.
