The Role

As the Senior Civil Project Manager, you will oversee the successful execution of complex heavy civil infrastructure projects while managing project teams, client relationships, schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and overall project performance.

You will work closely with Superintendents, Project Coordinators, Estimators, consultants, municipalities, and executive leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with contractual and operational objectives.

This role requires strong leadership capability, commercial acumen, and deep technical understanding of heavy civil construction operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall execution of heavy civil infrastructure projects from pre-construction through completion
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasting, and cost control activities
  • Oversee Project Coordinators, Superintendents, subcontractors, and project support teams
  • Maintain strong client, consultant, and municipal relationships throughout project delivery
  • Coordinate procurement, subcontractor management, and construction planning activities
  • Monitor project progress and proactively resolve operational and commercial issues
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, specifications, and project milestones
  • Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and reporting activities
  • Support tender reviews, budgeting, change management, and risk mitigation initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership and operations teams on project strategy and execution
  • Ensure strong health & safety performance across all project activities
  • Mentor and support the development of junior project staff

Who You Are

  • 10+ years of Project Management experience within heavy civil or municipal infrastructure construction
  • Strong experience managing projects involving:
    • Sewer & watermain
    • Underground utilities
    • Road construction
    • Deep excavation
    • Earthworks and grading
    • Municipal and transportation infrastructure projects
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-phase infrastructure assignments
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, scheduling, forecasting, and cost management
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience managing subcontractors, consultants, and client relationships
  • Strong organizational and operational management skills
  • Proficient with project management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office
  • Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical education is considered an asset
  • Experience working with public sector or municipal infrastructure clients is highly desirable
