Canterra Executive Search is conducting an exclusive search on behalf of one of the GTA’s most respected commercial real estate developers, owners, and property managers.

With a portfolio that includes Class A office towers, industrial assets, and premier retail properties, our client has built a reputation for developing and managing some of the most recognizable commercial real estate in the Greater Toronto Area.

As the portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join an established accounting team supporting a diverse commercial property portfolio.

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting, you will be responsible for the day-to-day Accounts Receivable function for a portfolio of commercial properties.

Responsibilities include:

✔ Processing monthly commercial tenant rent and lease charges

✔ Applying rent payments, deposits and miscellaneous receipts

✔ Maintaining tenant ledgers and receivable balances

✔ Monitoring aging reports and following up on outstanding balances

✔ Investigating billing discrepancies and resolving tenant inquiries

✔ Setting up new leases, renewals, amendments and extensions within JD Edwards

✔ Coordinating tenant reimbursements and credit transfers

✔ Processing daily banking transactions and cash applications

✔ Supporting month-end and year-end reporting requirements

✔ Working closely with Property Management, Leasing and Accounting teams

We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will bring experience within commercial real estate accounting and understands the unique nature of tenant billing, lease administration and commercial receivables.

Qualifications include:

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  
• 3+ years within commercial real estate
  
• Experience managing Accounts Receivable for commercial properties
  
• Strong understanding of commercial lease structures
  
• Experience maintaining tenant accounts and rent collections
  
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  
• Strong Excel skills
  
• Experience using JD Edwards (JDE) is considered a strong asset
  
• 
  

Experience from organizations such as commercial developers, REITs, asset managers, property managers or institutional real estate owners is highly desirable.
