Known for its self-perform capabilities, the company has successfully completed more than a thousand projects valued at over $1 billion while earning a reputation for quality, safety, and dependable project delivery.

With a significant fleet of owned equipment, a highly skilled workforce, and long-standing relationships with public agencies, utility providers, industrial owners, and private developers, the company continues to expand its presence throughout Arizona. Their commitment to operational excellence, employee development, and client satisfaction has positioned them as one of the region's premier heavy civil builders.

About the Position

The Area Manager will oversee estimating, operations, project management, field leadership, and client relationships while driving continued growth in grading, mass excavation, underground utilities, concrete, paving, and related heavy civil construction services.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a proven construction leader who wants to build a regional operation with the backing of a financially strong contractor known for investing in its people, equipment, and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, forecasting, resource planning, and operational performance
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards
  • Develop strong relationships with owners, developers, utility providers, municipalities, and engineering partners
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements, process efficiencies, and long-term business growth
  • Champion a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight years of progressive experience within heavy civil construction
  • Demonstrated success leading self-performed grading, earthwork, underground utility, concrete, paving, or infrastructure projects
  • Experience serving as a Senior Project Manager, Operations Manager, Area Manager, Chief Estimator, or similar leadership role
  • Strong estimating background with the ability to develop competitive bids and manage project financial performance
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects, operational teams, and client relationships simultaneously
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to recruit, mentor, and develop construction professionals
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, cost control, contract administration, and risk management
  • Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, HeavyJob, AGTEK, Bluebeam, and Procore is preferred
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, business development, and relationship management skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to lead from the field while remaining engaged in day-to-day operations

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary of $170,000–$205,000, commensurate with experience
  • Profit-sharing program
  • Company vehicle
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company contributions
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and personal time off
  • Long-term leadership and executive advancement opportunities
  • Opportunity to lead and expand a growing Arizona operation with the support of an established, financially strong heavy civil contractor
