Job Description

Overview:

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Replace equipment.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make repair parts.
  • Documents all work done on reports accordingly.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine dimensional changes.
  • Adjusts functional parts of equipment and control devices.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical equipment.
  • Welds/fabricates equipment and components.
  • NOTE: The maintenance supervisor or plant director, at any time, depending on the needs of the company, could add other duties.
Qualifications

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

  • One to three years maintenance experience in a manufacturing/food processing environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; Trade school/occupational training desired but not required. Trade school/occupational training desired but not required.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English. Conversational Spanish is desired but not required.
  • Must be able to perform basic arithmetic and algebraic functions.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment/process problems and propose solutions. Problem solving skills are essential to this position.
  • Fork Truck Operator Certification.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be frequently required to; stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, speak, hear, taste and smell.
  • The employee will be required to climb ladders and stairs and work on tall equipment. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • This position may require long hours including working weekends and nights.
