Job Description

Overview:

Individual will perform preventative and corrective maintenance, and will be responsible for knowing the operation, assisting the setup and minor mechanical repairs to packaging equipment. (Baggers, Printers, CSMAs, Weighers and Box Formers). This position is an entry level position with the expectation that members to learn and grow. Must be able to assist all team members on the Maintenance Mechanic Team, for support and personal development.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Ensures self and coworkers are compliant with all safety rules and regulations (LOTO, fall protection, hot work, etc.)
  • Provide and assist in the operation of the Baggers, Printers, CSMAs, Weighers and Box Formers.
  • Perform uptime and downtime inspections, lubrications, predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance on a regular basis to ensure proper performance.
  • Learns how to troubleshoot and repair all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on Baggers, Printers, CSMAs, Weighers and Box Formers.
  • Collaborates with Operators to ensure equipment runs and operates at the highest efficiencies.
  • Assist training and development to operators and other team members.
  • Research system and component specifications using equipment manuals, schematics, parts breakdowns, online information, and vendor communication.
  • Dismantle and reassemble complex pieces of machinery in an efficient, precise and reliable manner
  • · Creates work requests, work orders, and request parts in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and documents details of work performed.
  • Escalate technical, procedural, and personnel related issues to direct lead or supervisor as necessary.
  • Performs other assigned duties and projects.
  • Assist Packaging Specialist on repairs and improvements to equipment.
  • Will be responsible for response and clearing Bin Jams in area of responsibility.
  • Minor rebuild and preparation of rollers. i.e. replacement of bearings, shafts, and sprockets

Pay Range: $23.18 - $24.21 per hour. Final Compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.

Qualifications

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required;
  • Technical degree and three years or more of related experience and/or training in a production/manufacturing environment is preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Individual must be able to read, analyze, interpret, and present out general business items to groups of coworkers, managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Effective English communication is a must, bilingual is preferred.
  • Employee must possess ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is preferred.
  • Stand and/or walk for up to 12 hour shift.
  • Drive vehicles.
  • Climb on a ladder or scaffolding to heights in excess of 10’, balance, and work above the shoulders frequently.
  • Bend/stoop, kneel, crouch, and squat frequently for extended periods of time
  • Use both hands for frequent grasping and occasional fine manipulation and fingering.
  • Occasionally carry and lift up to 50 pounds above the shoulders.
  • Occasionally push or pull various items, such as equipment, filters, motors, tools, and compressors pumps up to 75 pounds.
  • Work at heights.
  • Tolerate required personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, work gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, dust masks, and safety harnesses on a continuous basis.
  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on, in, or in the presence of: moving mechanical parts, heights, rapidly flashing light, low visibility areas, high decibel machinery, heavy forklift traffic, uncomfortably warm or cold environments
