Job description

Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Internal Medicine Physician to join the growing Hospitalist team at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri.
The Opportunity
This is a full-time, employed hospitalist position - block scheduled in 12-hour days, 15 shifts per month (180 hours). The position will be largely days/swing but occasional nights could also be required.

  • Open ICU model

  • 15-20 patient contacts per 12-hour shift
  • Advanced Practice Provider support throughout
  • EMR: Meditech Expanse
  • AI Scribe: Suki
What sets this role apart from most rural hospitalist positions is the level of acuity and consultant depth. On any given shift, you have real-time access to specialists including interventional cardiology (Level 2 STEMI Center), pulmonology, anesthesiology, general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, psychiatry, infection disease, oncology, nephrology, pathology, and podiatry.
Compensation & Benefits

Citizens Memorial Hospital is an independently owned, not-for-profit rural health delivery system with physician satisfaction and engagement that rank in the top 10% nationally, with many physicians choosing to stay at CMH for their entire career. The new hospital that opened in April 2026 boasts all private rooms which includes 28 med-surg beds, 16 bed ICU, 29 bed ER and a 6 bed CDU.
Life in Bolivar
Bolivar is a small town - about 11,000 people - and the physicians who stay here chose that intentionally. The cost of living is low, the commute doesn't exist, and the pace outside the hospital is genuinely different from what you'll find in a metro market. Springfield is 25 minutes south if you want a city day. Lakes, rivers, and trail access are close if you don't. It's a perfect fit for physicians who want their life to feel like their own again.
Requirements
  • MD or DO
  • BE/BC in Internal Medicine
  • Missouri medical license or eligibility
